Prof. Mraz is an acclaimed photography historian, documentary-maker, curator and pioneer in Visual Studies
His presentation will examine methods of analysing photography from a historian’s perspective. A wide variety of Latin American images will be situated within the genres to which they belong and in terms of the functions they therein serve. Emphasis is placed on contextualization as the source of photographic meaning, and comparison as a vital tool for revealing internal structure.
